Research Studies

In an effort to maximize student learning, Canyon Academy for Math and Science provides on-going research studies. Current studies include the Interactive Metronome Study and the Diagnostic Physical Body Study. Each study has oversight provided by licensed medical doctors dedicated to helping students achieve their academic potential - without drugs.

Interactive Metronome Cognitive Therapy Study (IM)

IM is a brain-based rehabilitation assessment and training program developed to directly improve the processing abilities that affect attention, motor planning, and sequencing. This, in turn, strengthens motor skills, including mobility and gross motor function, and many fundamental cognitive capacities such as planning, organizing and language. For more information about this highly effective therapy tool go to www.interactivemetronome.com.

Enrolling: students age 7-14 years
Length of Study: 12 Session protocol (2 times per week)
Assessments included: Pre, midterm, and post assessments
Cost: $120 per month

Diagnostic Physical Body Study

When a child is diagnosed with ADD, ADHD or other learning disability, often times it is associated not with a brain deficiency but due to a biochemical imbalance in his/her body. Once this imbalance is corrected through nutritional changes, changes in learning happen most readily. This on-going clinical study is designed by Dr. Russell Imboden from Columbia, MO. Through his clinical research Dr. Imboden completely evaluates children biochemically (proteins, amino acid imbalances) and designs a nutritional program that meets their individual needs and helps them to wean off their ADD/ADHD medication. Students enrolled in this program have the option of attending our school during this transitional phase (in place of their regular academic setting) for up to 1 academic quarter.

Enrolling: students age 7-14 years
Length of Study: 2-3 months
Assessments included: complete blood work up panel, pre and post academic testing
Cost: $900 (per quarter enrolled in school) + the cost of the blood tests and physician consultations.
